Pink is the new black

Lately, on the last autumn-winter fashion shows we have seen that pink is a color that prevails on most of the looks, we see it in all of its variations, from intense tones such as Barbie pink, to the most pale pinks that can even be mistaken for whites.

The items, actually there is no an specific garment, we can see dresses, skirts, blouses, pants, and bags too, but what is really an essential, are the coats and blazers in pink colors, so we can say that for this coming season “pink is the new black”.

I personally, do not feel very identified with this color, but I would not mind giving it a try. What do you think?

En las ultimas pasarelas de otoño-invierno hemos visto que predomina el color rosa en todas sus variaciones, desde tonos muy intensos tipo rosa Barbie, hasta los más pálidos casi viendose blancos.
Las prendas? En realidad no hay una en específico, podemos ver vestidos, faldas, blusas, pantalones, y bolsas también, pero lo que más sale a relucir son los abrigos y blazers, así que podemos decir que para esta temporada que viene el rosa es el nuevo negro.

Yo en lo personal, no me siento muy identificada con este color, pero no me molestaria darle una oportunidad. Tú, ¿que opinas?

Style Inspiration – baggy pants

Today´s post is about baggy pants and some quick tips of how to wear them.
The main benefit I find on baggy pants is that they highlight your shape and if your are a very skinny girl, they tend to add volume to the lower part of your body, which also minimizes your waist.
From my point of view baggy pants can be divided into two types: those who are very wide or those who are more conservative. Both can work perfect and make you look amazing.

Here I list some tips that can help you chosing a pair of baggy pants and how to wear them.

– Before buying them, you must try them on and be very honest with yourself, if you feel that you look bigger than you are or shapeless, don´t buy them.
– I preffer to use them with a tight top or a cropped one, so the style or design of the pants can be shown.
– Baggy pants can be worn with flats, but will look much better if you opt for heels.
– Do not exceed when using accessories.
– Find colors or prints that make your body shape look better, e.g. blacks are a good slimming option.

Mi post del dia de hoy, trata sobre los baggy pants y unos tips rapidos de como usarlos.
Una ventaja de este tipo de pantalones, es que realzan tu figura si eres una persona muy delgada, ya que agrega volumen a la parte baja de tu cuerpo.
Desde mi punto de vista los baggy pants pueden ser divididos en dos tipos: los que son muy holgados o los que son más conservadores. Cualquiera de los dos pueden funcionar perfecto y hacerte ver increible.
A continuación enlisto algunos tips a la hora de usar y comprar baggy pants.

– Antes de comprarlos, debes medirtelos bien y ser muy honesta contigo misma, si te hacen ver muy ancha o sin forma, es mejor que no los compres.
– Para mi gusto, deben ir con blusas ajustadas o blusas cortas, para que la forma o diseño de los pantalones luzca.
– Pueden usarse con flats, pero el look se verá mucho más estilizado si optas por tacones.
– No exageres a la hora de usar accesorios. El pantalón en sí, suele llamar la atención.
– Busca colores o prints que favorezcan la forma de tu cuerpo, los negros por ejemplo son una muy buena opción si no quieres verte muy ancha.

love them or hate them: Overalls

The nineties are back, and it’s no surprise that with them came also this peculiar piece, loved by some hated by others.
The overalls are a very relaxed clothing that tends to create a kind of masculine look on them who wear them, but can be easily styled up using the right accessories and shoes. (statement necklaces and high-heels are the best way to balance a boy’ish look).

There are many and a great variety on types of overalls: long, short, oversized, tight, the ones that cover almost all of the top part on your body, and the other ones that are a little more cropped on this part  to let you show the top your wearing, the 70´s style overalls and even the type that looks more like a dress.
All of them are back and you can find them anywhere, the question is ..

Los noventas estan regresando, y no es ninguna sorpresa que con ellos viniera también esta pieza tan peculiar, amada por muchos y odiada por muchas más.
Los overalls son una prenda de vestir muy relajada que tiende a generar un look másculino pero que puede ser facilmente estilizada usando los accesorios y zapatos adecuados.

Existen diversos y muy variados tipos de overalls, los largos, cortos, los que son muy amplios, los muy ajustados, los que cubren totalmente la parte superior, los que tienen un escote más amplio e inclusive los overalls que son más un tipo de vestido.
Todos ellos han vuelto y puedes encontrarlos en cualquier parte, la pregunta es..

Miranda Kerr for MANGO

The ’90s Grunge style is back, and now Mango is embracing this trend with its AW 2013 collection, and who better than the always amazing (and one of my girl crushes) Miranda Kerr to be the face of the campaing.
The shooting was in charge of high-fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and took place in the rooftop of a building in New York City.

This is the second time that we see Miranda as the image for the Spanish brand, but this time in a very punk way. From spiked creepers to tartan trousers, I think every outfit has a main item that make it special and to die for, and as expected she totally rocked the look.
My favorite pieces of the collection are the leather jacket and the discolored boyfriend jeans.

El estilo Grunge de los 90´s está de vuelta, y Mango lo sabe, por eso ha adoptado esta tendencia para su colección Otoño/Invierno 2013, y quién mejor que la siempre bella Miranda Kerr para ser la imagen de la campaña.
Las fotografías estuvieron a cargo de los fotógrafos Inez van Lamsweerde y Vinoodh Matadin y se llevó a cabo en el techo de un edificio en la ciudad de Nueva York.

Esta es la segunda vez que vemos a Miranda como la imagen de la marca española, pero esta vez de una manera muy punk. Desde creepers con estoperoles hasta pantalones con estampado de cuadros estilo escocés, cada outfit tiene un elemento principal que lo hace especial y para desearlo a morir, y como era de esperarse ella se veía increíble en cada uno de ellos.
Mis piezas favoritas de la colección son la chaqueta de cuero y los boyfriend jeans descoloridos.

DIY WEDNESDAY

As a proud industrial designer, (in case someone of our readers did not know, we are industrial designers by college degree) I usually do many crafts and always are in search of DIY projects (when my work allows me, which lately has not been the case, I know, very sad!!)
A good place to look for inspiration is Pinterest, but there are also some other blogs and sites, especially the fashion ones, that I really enjoy visiting and that also I recommend to those who have crafter skills. The ones I personally like are “Love Aesthetics” and “A pair and a spair”. Some time ago Denise shared some projects from Ivania (Love aestetics).
Today I want to share with you some of “A pair and a spair”, personally I really like this blog because Geneva (the page creator and author of all the DIY´s that are published on the site) always gets inspired by current desgns that most of the time are not affordable for normal people like us, so it becomes a good option if you drool over some of these designs.

Como buena diseñadora industrial, (por si alguien no lo sabía estudie la carrera de Diseño industrial) suelo hacer muchas manualidades y proyectos DIY (cuando el trabajo me lo permite, que ultimamente no ha sido el caso :( ..)
Un buen lugar para buscar inspiración es Pinterest, sin embargo existen también algunos otros blogs y páginas, sobretodo de moda que me gusta mucho visitar y que les recomiendo a aquellas personas que se les facilitan las manualidades. Los que más me gustan en lo personal son Love Aestetics y A pair and a spair. Hace un tiempo Denise compartio algunos proyectos de Ivania (Love aestetics).
El día de hoy yo quiero comprartirles algunos de A pair and a spair, en lo personal me gusta mucho este blog porque Geneva (creadora de la página y autora de todos los DIY que ahi se publican) busca la mayoria de las veces inspirarse en diseños actuales que por lo general no son tan accesibles para la mayoria de la gente por lo que se vuelve una buena opción si mueres por alguno de esos diseños.

Little black dress

A couple of weeks ago, I did one of the most essential and basic purchases that every woman should do: A black short dress.

All this happened because I was cleaning my closet and I realized that even though my favorite color is black, I did not have a nice short dress in that color on my belongings.
A little black dress is a basic item in any woman’s closet.
It is elegant, classic and something very important.. is timeless, you simply can´t go wrong when wearing this piece.

If among your clothes you do not have a little black dress, I recommend you taking this into account  in your next shopping, since a black dress can save you in those days when you don´t know what to wear.
The simpler the better, a simple black dress represents a very good investment since they are easily reusable. By simply changing accessories, shoes or the coat/blazer you are using with, you can achieve a totally different look from the last time you used it, and people will hardly notice it is the same dress.

Hace un par de semanas, hice una de las compras más esenciales y necesarias que toda mujer debería hacer: Un vestido corto negro.

Todo esto paso porque haciendo limpia de mi guardarropa me di cuenta que a pesar de que mi color favorito es el negro, no tengo un buen vestido corto de ese color dentro de mis pertenencias.
Un vestido corto negro es una pieza básica en el closet de cualquier mujer.
Es elegante, clásico y algo muy importante atemporal, en realidad es imposible que algo pueda salir mal con tu atuendo cuando llevas uno puesto.

Si entre tu ropa no cuentas con esta prenda, te recomiendo que en tus próximas compras lo tomes en cuenta, ya que un vestido negro puede sacarte de cualquier apuro en esos momentos en los que no sabes  que ponerte.
Mientras más simple el estilo del vestido que escojas mejor, estos estilos  a mi punto de vista representan una muy buena inversión ya que son fácilmente reusables, con solo cambiar los accesorios, zapatos o blazer puedes lograr un look totalmente diferente a la última vez que lo usaste y la gente difícilmente va a notar que es el mismo vestido de aquella vez.

Karlie Kloss and Daft Punk for VOGUE

Surrounded by hundreds of spectators were shooted the American fashion model Karlie Kloss and the French music phenomenon Daft Punk, for the August issue of Vogue Magazine.

Them, all suited up in their trademark shiny helmets and gloves.
She, with the most amazing pieces from next season’s ready-to-wear collections. From bold Alexander Maqueen (pearl-embellished coatdress) to luxurious Dolce & Gabbana (red jeweled dress) until amazing and classy Chloe (cream dress), Karlie looked stunning with an electric frizzed “bob” hairstyle.

Rodeados de cientos de espectadores tomando fotos desde sus celulares, fueron fotografiados la modelo estadounidense Karlie Kloss y el fenómeno de música francesa Daft Punk, para la edición de agosto de la revista Vogue.

Ellos, vistiendo traje y sus famosos cascos y guantes brillantes.
Ella, con las piezas más sorprendentes de prêt-à-porter de las colecciones de la próxima temporada. Windowpane print

Windowpane has become one of my favorite prints lately, it´s more simple and subtle than the colorful floral prints, but it´s both classy and bold and it´s simply black and white.
I know this post comes a little late, since this trend was at its top on Spring. (We saw a lot of it on the Spring 2013 Chanel runways.) But when I like something I really don´t care too much about the season or if it´s “in” at that moment. Besides I think that mixing black and white is something that we will continue to see for the rest of this year and perhaps the next one.

Los prints estilo ventana o red se han convertido ultimamente en uno de mis estampados preferidos; sí, es más simple y sutil que los estampados coloridos y florales, pero para mi gusto es muy clásico, elegante y atrevido al mismo tiempo, y simplemente es blanco y negro.
Sé que este post llega un poco tarde, ya que esta tendencia alcanzó su mayor popularidad en Primavera. (Vimos un montón de ella en las pasarelas de Chanel de Primavera 2013) Pero cuando algo me gusta, en realidad no me importa mucho si es o no temporada en ese momento. Además creo que la mezcla de blanco y negro es algo que vamos a seguir viendo el resto de este año y tal vez también en el próximo.

Sportswear: running shoes

What do you think about sportswear?
If I had been asked about this a few years ago, the only thing that would have come to my mind would probably be “gym”.
But now, that its not just about looking good but also feeling good and comfortable with what you wear, I have to say that sportswear, specially running shoes have surprised me with how well they can look when combining them with not so sporty clothes.

One of these days I will certainly try this combination, and of course I will share with you the results.

¿Qué piensan ustedes acerca de la ropa deportiva?
Si me hubieran hecho esta pregunta hace un par de años, probablemente lo único que habría venido a mi mente sería la palabra gimnasio.

Pero ahora, que no se trata solo de verte bien, sino tambien sentirte bien y adenás cómodo con lo que llevas puesto, tengo que decir que la ropa deportiva en especial los tennis para hacer ejercicio me han sorprendido bastante con lo bien que pueden llegar a verse cuando se les combina con ropa no tan deportiva.

Uno de estos días sin duda voy a probar esta combinación, y por supuesto que voy a compartir con ustedes los resultados.
